Who Uses Fiddlefox

World Heritage Songbooks invite music education into the home, bringing a world of rhyme, movement, melody, and culture to your living room. Spend quality music time with your young child on their own terms as they sing through volume after volume of illustrated world children’s music.

Classroom Teachers

Our read, sing, and play method is tailored to help early childhood teachers enrich their classrooms with dynamic musical content, fun craft activities, and music games. Accompany your next concert with our traditional instrumental tracks or collaborate with teachers around your school to create cross-curricular cultural units and performance events. Fiddlefox’s companion activity books provide teachers with fun facts, coloring pages, puzzles, and choreography inspired by each collection of songs.

Music Educators

Our multicultural music curriculum adds colorful context to your teaching routine, providing you with lesson plans, extra-curricular content, and video resources for continuing professional development. Fiddlefox’s rainbow bell notation helps students as young as 3 develop sight reading and ear training skills at the foundational stages of their musical development. With songs composed in a diverse range of meters, modes, tonalities, and styles, veteran music instructors can use these songs as a springboard into deep music learning.

What People are Saying About Fiddlefox

I feel like I discovered El Dorado or something! Now I can plan three years’ worth of programs over the summer and never have to scramble for songs again! They even have an instrumental version of each song so that you can use it for your program. Heaven.

What a great program for young people. I love the interactive content, and how anyone can start using the content immediately. I’m not a musician, but I feel like a hero to my kid when we use Fiddlefox together!

Lisa W.

This it the most comprehensive cultural program that I’ve seen for kids. Kids should have the opportunity to explore the cultures of the world, and Fiddlefox really provides an incredible opportunity for kids to do that with their materials.

Has the pandemic changed the way you’re educating your child?

If so, you’re not alone!

It’s expected that the number of homeschooled children will increase by at least 10 percent this year. Is your household included in this number?

While many parents are taking the job of homeschooling on themselves, others can’t due to work commitments. Even for parents working from home, the balance of watching and educating their children combined with their own workload is just too much to handle. Does this sound familiar?

We thought so! If you want to learn more, check out the blog. Link in bio.

When you think about happy music, what songs come to mind?⁣

Probably something upbeat, catchy, and fast-paced. Think about how it makes you feel. It’s kinda hard to be in a bad mood when there’s happy music playing. 🎶 ⁣

But, is there such a thing as a “Happy Song” for babies?⁣

Grammy-winning composer and vocalist Imogen Heap was asked a couple of years to put together a song guaranteed to make babies happy. It had all the right ingredients so it undoubtedly made babies happy. If you take a listen to it yourself, happiness is pretty much guaranteed! 🎻💖⁣

At Rock and Roll Daycare, music is part of the everyday curriculum. We use music as an everyday teaching tool and incorporate music centers to allow children to freely explore different music at their own pace. 🎶⁣

Can babies distinguish between happy and sad music?⁣

Since we can, it makes sense that our babies should be able to pick up on the vibes too!⁣
Over the years, researchers have been spending time exposing babies to different types of music. They played happy and sad music to see how babies reacted and if they could tell when the music was switched.⁣

They had them stare at emotionally neutral faces. The babies tended to look away when they were picking up on a similar song, but when it was changed to happy music, they started to stare longer. 🎶⁣

The result?⁣
Researchers say their reaction shows babies can tell the difference between happy and sad music. To learn more about the study and about the effects of happy music on babies, check out the link in bio! You can try your own experiment by playing happy and sad music and see how your baby reacts!🎻💖

Montessori vs Traditional Learning? ⁣

One of the big differences between Montessori classrooms and traditional classrooms is that they are based on student-centered lessons rather than teacher-centered ones. ⁣

🎶 Montessori classrooms are set up so students can find the materials they need as they progress. ⁣

Traditional learning is also based around a set curriculum with a certain amount of time allotted for each activity. Once the time is over, they move on to the next lesson.⁣

🎶 In a Montessori classroom, children learn and work at their own pace. They can work on a lesson for as long as it takes for them to understand and complete it. ⁣

In a traditional classroom, teachers are often the ones who have to settle a conflict.⁣

🎶 In a Montessori classroom, children learn conflict-resolution skills to settle their own issues. This helps to develop self-discipline and social awareness.⁣

What is the Montessori Method?⁣

Maria Montessori is the woman behind the name of the method. ⁣It is the result of over 40 years of scientific observations and working with young children all around the world.⁣

It took a lot of courage and strength to become one of the first women doctors in Italy. ⁣

In early 1900s Dr. Maria Montessori opened the first Montessori school in the projects of Rome and soon the whole world came to witness the miracle of Montessori. ⁣

She extensively traveled all her life to share with people about her method, that focuses on self-directed activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. ⁣
We design our classrooms according to Montessori approach to child’s development and consider the role of the environment in education. ⁣

The Montessori method encourages children to learn at their own pace and through their own experiences. Curiosity is welcomed as children discover new and interesting pieces of information at every age level. 💖

Can time spent in nature be used as a learning tool?⁣

These days, many kids are spending more time at home as activities are either canceled or rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now is the best time for you and your child to spend time in nature. ⁣

In a recent study, researcher Dr. Louise Chawla says there is strong evidence that kids are happier, healthier, and function better when they learn to connect with nature. 🍃⁣

Children get to know more about the environment and are more likely to take action to protect it. Giving kids access to parks, gardens, and wild areas is important for them to make that connection. 🍃 ⁣

At Rock and Roll Daycare we implement an vigorous nature curriculum, encouraging hans-on projects for children to complete as a fun challenge! Oh how much they learn through fun!⁣

Have you been in the nearby part lately? Have you seen how leaves change colors?⁣

Pandemic Screen Time: How Much is Too Much?😉⁣

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, many parents have been dealing with a delicate balancing act of having their children home all of the time, working, and doing school work. Being home 24/7 with many activities canceled also means more downtime for kids of all ages. This has many parents concerned that their children are having more screen time, and in some cases, maybe too much screen time.⁣

When it comes to screen time during the pandemic,is there a point where parents should unplug and be concerned? 🎶⁣

Research shows that children’s screen time during the pandemic is growing by as much ⁣
as 50% to 60% more. For some children 12 and younger, they may be spending as much as 5 hours a day on a screen.⁣

For years, the American Academy of Pediatrics has called for no screen time ⁣
at all for children until 18 to 24 months old. Children ages 2 to 5 should get an hour or less of screen time a day. ⁣
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) ⁣
recommends that children can attend to quality educational entertainment via technology when the content supports children’s learning. 🥳⁣
